THE STORY...

Laura loves Anthony, but Anthony couldn't care less about Laura. Herbert loves Laura, but Laura couldn't care less about Herbert. Ignatius is a priest and David takes people across the river.

Laura decides to go and plead her case with Anthony so she asks David to take her across the river and he does. She tells Anthony that she loves him and Anthony says to himself "She doesn't look that bad". So Anthony lets Laura stay with him for a while, but quickly gets bored with her and sends her on her way.

On her way home she sees Herbert who she knows loves her deeply and offers her love to Herbert. Herbert tells Laura that there is nothing he would rather do than be with Laura, but she loves Anthony and so he sadly declines her offer.

Laura then asks David to take her back across the river, which he does.

She then tells Ignatius about her situation and asks his advice. He tells her to choose neither man and stay at home.
